R1000M is built around its name: 1,000 minutes, about 17 hours of competition over a route of several hundred kilometres. The route mixes navigation, regularity sections, timed challenges, sports tests and touring. The organisers, active motorsport competitors, describe it as one of the few real historic car rallies in Poland, aimed at ambitious crews.

Entries are for cars built no later than 31 December 1990. Cars up to 1997 may be accepted if places remain, and an age multiplier favours older machinery. It is not a speed rally. Crews aim to hold the target average set for each section. The rally runs on the last weekend of April, or the penultimate one if that clashes with the May holidays. Previous editions started from Kraków or nearby, and the 2026 partners included Krynica-Zdrój and Bardejov in Slovakia.

The 2026 rally on 24-26 April added a Friday prologue, and Lithuanian crews took part. The 2027 rally is expected on 23-25 April 2027, and the organiser's website was already counting down to the 2027 start.
